How does it work?
You’re on vacation and you want to call home? UTS got you covered since our voice roaming service is part of the basic Chippie package. And the best part is that you don’t have to subscribe for it! Just take your phone with you when traveling and connect to the UTS roaming partner in that country!
To receive a call on a host network is as easy as receiving a call on the UTS network. Since the party calling from your home country simply dials your number and effortlessly the call gets routed to you from the UTS network to the host network. There are no extra charges incurred by the calling party.
Just make sure that your GSM phone operates on at least 900/1800 MHz
Frequency (dual band). For using the roaming service in the USA, your GSM phone must operate on 900/1800/1900 MHz frequency (tri-band). You can find the information in your phone instruction manual or on the website of the brand name of your GSM phone.
Make sure to take enough Chippie credit before leaving, so you can increase your prepaid balance. Another option is to go online and upload credit via your MCB bank account. As a last resort, you can always ask friends or family to buy credit for you and provide you with the card number (call or SMS).
There are two options for prepaid Roaming.
1. Call Back Option (Technical name is USSD) (button)
2. Seamless Roaming (Technical name is CAMEL) (button)
The call back system (USSD):
A worldwide roaming service that gives you the ability to call your loved ones back home.
